Former Bison Smith, Bonnet Sign With NFL Teams

FARGO – Former North Dakota State football players CJ Smith and Andrew Bonnet have found NFL teams. Both signed as undrafted free agents Saturday after the completion of the NFL Draft, according to the NDSU football Twitter account.

Smith, a 5-foot-11, 188-pound cornerback, signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. Bonnet, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound fullback/tight end, signed with the Carolina Panthers, who made the Super Bowl last season.

Smith joins former Bison quarterback Carson Wentz in Philadelphia. Wentz was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft. In addition, former NDSU offensive lineman Joe Haeg was selected in the fifth round by the Indianapolis Colts.

  1. That business og holding all of their playoff opponents to their lowest offensive totals of the season tells me there are more defensive players, this year and next, who will be signed also. I do think it was wise of NDSU to sign coach Kleimen to a multi year contract, also.
