Former MSUM guard lands assistant coaching job at Williston State College

WILLISTON, N.D. – Former Minnesota State Moorhead guard Andrew VanHavermaet has been hired to be an assistant men’s basketball coach at Williston State College.

VanHavermaet, who graduated from MSUM in May, averaged 6.7 points and 2.6 rebounds in his senior season with the Dragons, starting 16 of 30 games.

Former MSUM assistant coach Eric Peterson is the head men’s coach at Williston State College. Peterson coached VanHavermaet for two seasons.

“He has the highest basketball IQ out of any player I have ever coached,” Peterson said.

VanHavermaet, who is from Hawley, Minn., started 45 games at MSUM during his playing career. He ended his career third on the school’s all-time 3-point list with 194.
