Minnesota State Moorhead men’s basketball signee Tyler Vaughan had a memorable game over the weekend. The 6-foot senior guard scored 53 points to lead the Braham Bombers to an 81-73 victory against Esko for the Minnesota Class 2A, Section 7 championship in Duluth.
Vaughan has scored more than 3,000 career points in his prep career. The Bombers (29-1) are the No. 3 seed for the state tournament, which starts Wednesday. Braham plays St. Croix Lutheran at 8 p.m. at Williams Arena.
Braham coach Bob Vaughan, Tyler’s dad, told the Duluth News Tribune after the game: “It’s maybe the greatest game a Braham player ever played considering what we had to overcome at the half. He was bound and determined.”
Tyler Vaughan scored 31 points in the second half to help the Bombers rally from a 40-30 halftime deficit.
