More on MSUM football coaching search

Here are some leftovers from finalist Steve Laqua, who had his open forum for the Minnesota State Moorhead head football coaching job on Tuesday at Alex Nemzek Hall. Laqua handled himself well in front of the gather of media types and the general public.

On the Power Bowl rivalry game against Concordia: “I know growing up being able to watch that, players knowing that they’re going to play a game that’s on TV and broadcast regionally,” Laqua said. “If we are going to recruit withing 150-mile radius, that’s a great way to get out there and be seen.”

Laqua said he has heard from a number area high school coaches who would like to see the MSUM program become a success: “They so much want this to be a place where they can send players so their community members can come watch them.”

Nebraska-Kearney offensive coordinator Russ Martin is set to interview this afternoon (Wednesday) at Alex Nemzek Hall. Missouri Western State offensive coordinator Tyler Fenwick is set for Thursday and Wisconsin-Stevens Point offensive coordinator Aaron Vlcko is set for Friday. Fenwick and Vlcko both interviewed for the job in 2006.
