Concordia opens its football camp Sunday at Jake Christiansen Stadium with its first practice, which is scheduled to take place on the newly installed FieldTurf.

The Cobbers start their season on Sept. 4 at Dickinson State. Concordia is scheduled to play its first game on the new turf on Sept. 11 when it hosts Valley City State in a non-conference game.

“Practice-wise we are going to be on it a ton,” Cobbers coach Terry Horan said of the new turf. “We will be able to do a lot on it.”

The Dragons are scheduled to hold their first scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday. Minnesota State Moorhead interim head coach Joel Beard said the Dragons have a lot of position battles to assess as they prepare for the season opener.

“We’re still trying to sort things out with our positions,” Beard said. “We want to see who starts to separate themselves.”

The Dragons open their season on Aug. 26 at Missouri Southern.
